Connecting Wales “highly commended”
Connecting Wales has been highly commended by judges at the Comms Business Awards 2021.
Our pioneering ‘Community Cloud’ framework for the Welsh public sector, which went live at the beginning of 2020 just as the pandemic emerged, was shortlisted in the Mid-Market ICT category.
Connecting Wales is a shared technology and contact centre platform, available to all public sector organisations in Wales, which is helping to reduce the cost of communications technology and contact centres to individual councils and others in the public sector.
It provides access to a modern digital platform that’s both affordable and efficient, and hands Welsh citizens more control over the services they receive and access to the information they need. The platform enables working between councils and other public sector bodies including NHS Trusts and GP services and played a key part in enabling remote working and keeping patients safe during the pandemic.
Vale of Glamorgan Council and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board were the first to join the Connecting Wales/Cysylltu Cymru platform. Wrexham Council has since joined the shared service, along with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council more recently.
The service is led by Vale of Glamorgan Council, backed by the Welsh Government, and is powered by award-winning technology providers, FourNet.
Rob Thomas, managing director of Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “Connecting Wales/Cysylltu Cymru has more than proved its worth over the past 18 months. Its remote working capabilities and collaboration technology has kept things running smoothly and safely for employees and citizens alike, so it’s terrific to receive this recognition at the Comms Business Awards.”
Richard Pennington, FourNet’s CEO, said: “We are delighted that Connecting Wales and FourNet have received the judge’s high commendation at the Comms Business Awards. It is a testament to the hard work by all the team who have developed and continue to grow Connecting Wales.”
Last year, Connecting Wales was also “highly commended” at the Comms National Awards 2020 for Best Enterprise Vertical Marketing Solution.
